Easter Is Here

Scrambling to figure out what gifts to give to your family & friends Sunday? Here’s some ideas for those of us who tend to procrastinate!

  • Flowers
Usually this is the first line of action of a desperate partner on Valentine’s Day, but it works just as well on Easter Sunday! 1-800-FLOWERS offers a variety of Easter-themed bouquets, floral centerpieces, and chocolate-stuffed baskets. Place an order and you can have your purchase hand-delivered to your door in the morning! However, take care that there may be a lot of Easter procrastinators in your area. There are only so many deliverymen! If you can’t get any flowers in time from the company, you can always get them the easy way… pick flowers around your neighborhood and run!
  • Food
If you’re anything like me, baking is way beyond your comfort zone. But desperate times call for desperate measures. If you have a Pinterest account, there are plenty of holiday-themed recipes to try. But if the thought of submitting to the Pinterest craze makes your hair curl, allrecipes.com suffices. Try making deviled eggs instead of the standard dye-dipping ritual if you feel like mixing it up.
  • Poetry
Cliche’? That’s the point. What better than some heartfelt stanzas to show how much you appreciate someone else? Eggs dyed red, bunnies are blue, chocolate is good, and Jesus loves you….

Now tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the year – Easter Sunday! Another blessed day to reflect on the unconditional love God has for us. But this is also the day we commemorate to Jesus when he rose from the dead after being crucified on the cross. “The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity start over no matter what the circumstances,” says Robert Flatt. And whether Easter Sunday is the one day a year you go to church, hunt for eggs, wear head-to-toe pastel colors, or dress up as a gigantic bunny rabbit — there is one certainty.

Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but that it will not stay there.”

And that is what the day is truly about. He has risen indeed.
