In Loving Memory
Most of us in the United States enjoy Memorial Day. We spend our 3-day weekend hanging out with friends, going to the beach, tubing down a river, motor crossing the desert, and BBQing galore. I, for one, have had the privilege of experiencing all these fun times on a Memorial Day weekend and have some of the best memories with my friends, neighbors, and family during these times.
But are we missing the big picture? I know I did.
Memorial Day is in honor of the men and women who have served our country in ways some of us cannot imagine. So many fallen heroes and heroes walking among us deserve respect. Not just on Memorial Day, but every day.
Believe me, I am not condemning the fun trips and parties we are all having on this festive weekend. Chilling poolside with a drink in one hand and a plate of ribs in the other is like paradise. But, we should look at this weekend as a blessing, not as a entitlement.
So, live it up! In honor of all of the men and women who sacrifice for all of us Americans every day. THANK YOU!
