Valentine’s Day All Year Long
“To the coupled-off, the star-crossed lovers and the joyfully independent: Happy Valentine’s Day!”
Some people love it and other people hate it. But who says that there’s only one day a year specifically meant for showing appreciation for everyone you love?! Here are some ways to treat your significant other like it is Valentine’s Day all year long.
1. Every night before you go to sleep, write down one thing about the other person you love and appreciate. Do this for a few months (or even better, a full year) and you’ll be amazed at the results. Your partner be touched when you give them the list, but you will find yourself taking notice of the little things that make you smile.
2. Put your electronics away. Spend quality time with each other without the distractions. The rest of the world can wait.
3. Never stop ‘dating’ each other. Don’t let things go stale. Valentine’s Day is not the one day a year flowers and chocolates should be exchanged over a dinner table in some fancy restaurant. No need to spend a lot of money all of the time, but keep it fun! Keep surprising each other with exciting adventures and different experiences.
And to all the singles: Valentine’s Day is not a day of mourning! Embrace your situation and love it! Being single is not supposed to cripple you. Let your friends and family know how much you love them and don’t forget to love and cherish yourself!
“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
