Challenges: 3 Tips on How To Beat the Odds
Challenges in life are not always so easily avoided. In fact, sometimes we have to face them head-on. Even though the odds can be stacked against us, there are a few things we can control that may very well put the ball back in our court.
1. Never compromise morals.
Don’t experiment with values. If our lives are in a constant ‘grey area’ without any black or white, how can we expect ourselves to know the difference between right and wrong? It’s okay to have different beliefs and opinions than others. It’s okay to be set apart. It’s also okay to be open-minded and willing to listen to opposition. But we must commit to our morals and believe in them. Build your life with persistence and ethical guidelines. Keep yourself on track.
2. Select friends carefully.
We interact with people we may or may not care for constantly, however we do choose who we invest quality time with. Surround yourself with those who uplift and inspire you. Friendships are meant to be celebrated, not tolerated. Be careful who you learn from and take care to truly listen to those who love and care about you.
3. Don’t avoid adversity.
Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said, “We acquire the strength we overcome.” We must recognize the silver lining while we are in the throws of adversity and cling to it. Bumps in the road are where we learn how keep trying, admit error, take advice, and profit from our mistakes. No one ever got anywhere without rocking the boat.
