I Am Vulnerable & I Am Strong
It isn’t always one or the other.
Sometimes (a lot of the time), the movies and books get it twisted.
A woman is the fiercest warrior alive, clad in shining metal and wielding a sword of iron, void of emotion and ruthless in her ravenous thirst of revenge.
A woman is fragile, wordless, and weepy as she shrieks in terror at the monsters that pursue and kidnap her, only to be saved and deemed as nothing more that a narrative plot device without any real character development.
So, I ask the question… Why must I be classified as either strong or vulnerable? In truth, I am both.
When I am scared, I am also courageous. When I am angry, I am also emotional.
When I am scared, I am also courageous. When I am angry, I am also emotional. When I am determined, I will face roadblocks. When I am battling an insecurity, I will focus on the things I am confident in. When I am sad, I am not afraid to cry. When I am happy, I’m not afraid to laugh.
Food for thought.
