These are words that roll so naturally off of the tongue… even when they are the furthest from the truth.
I have used that lie often when I wanted to suppress my feelings. At times, I have felt like my burdens were meant to be internalized. There was certainly no need to share my frustrations with others, right?
But then I had a revelation, by way of discussion with a loved one (as usual): the one’s who love you want to be there for you. They want to shoulder some of that pain you are harboring inside and they desire to help turn it into something good. They want to lift you up and encourage you. But none of that will work if you aren’t being truthful with them, and in turn, being truthful with yourself.
the one’s who love you want to be there for you.
If someone you love asks you if you are okay and you are most definitely not… be honest. Tell them.
