January Film – The Revenant
I watched The Revenant over the weekend. (No spoilers)
Here is the IMBD summary for those who don’t know what the movie is about:
“A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820’s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.”
It’s a stellar film, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter. The cinematography is outstanding, the on-location set is absolutely stunning, but the story is what really grips the viewer.
If you have the grit (and the stomach), take the plunge and watch.
But this blog wasn’t meant to be a review of the highly anticipated movie, destined to win Leonardo DiCaprio a well-deserved Oscar. No, I wanted to just pose a question.
What piece of art, film, book, poem, music, person, activity, or place inspires you?
Film is one of my greatest loves. A well-done story told through cinema can change my perspective on a bad situation. I love the visual, audio, and the gritty craft of acting. It’s the method of make-believe that makes my heart swell.
I hope that you search and discover what outlet gives your creativity a kick-start. Feed that childlike part of your life; everyone can benefit from a little healthy imagination.
